What would happen to the lions once shooting on Mia and the White Lion is completed and the cubs have reached adulthood? This was a question that the filmmakers asked from the moment the idea for this film was conceived.
After extensive discussions with all stakeholders, it was decided that, before the lions were acquired, a trust would have to be set up to take care of them for the duration of their natural lives. This was duly set in place and will ensure that all aspects of the lions’ welfare will be taken care of.
The trust guarantees that the lions will be kept together as a pride, will not be confined in tiny cages and will not be used for breeding purposes. Furthermore, under no circumstances will the lions be sold off to zoos or the hunting industry and will be allowed to live out their lives in a natural and stimulating environment.
